Home care assistance is a set of services that are provided in the comfort of the client’s home. The services promote dignity and independence.Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Persons age 60 and over who have difficulty performing self-care or homemaking activities
- Persons at greatest risk of institutionalization
- Residents of Topeka and Shawnee County
Delivery
How are services delivered?
Services are delivered in the patient’s home by Certified Home Health Aides, who are under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse.Availability
When are services available?
Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Services are available on an intermittent basis for those who do not require 24-hour-a-day professional supervision.Services

- Personal Care, including:
- Bathing
- Shampoo
- Grooming
- Assistance with ambulation
- Linen changes
- Light Homemaking, including:
- Laundry
- Grocery shopping
- Light cleaning
- Vacuuming
Cost
What are the costs?
Fees for services are based on an hourly rate and may be discounted according to income guidelines.
Funding support provided by Shawnee County Health Agency, Shawnee County Service Program for the Elderly, Older Americans Act, Senior Care Act, Kansas Department on Aging, and Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging.
