Northeast Corner Regionalization Initiative

In January 2003, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment provided funding received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to encourage local health departments to regionalize and develop plans on how to address public health emergencies at a regional level within the state of Kansas.

As a result of this additional funding, 15 regional groups were formed. The Northeast Corner Regionalization Initiative (NCRI) is comprised of local health departments from the following counties:

Benefits of Regionalization

The regionalization concept benefits the residents of the communities served by the local health departments. These efforts provide a greater resource of equipment, information and personnel to draw upon during a public health emergency.
